Ms.
Mensch is an entertainment lawyer with vast experience and contacts
in the music industry, where she has directed her law practice
for over 25 years. For the past 2-½ years, she directed the business
of a Chicago-based media-internet company's entertainment division. With this division,
Ms. Mensch developed a television, Internet, digital and radio
distribution network in China while acquiring the highest quality
content for the company's television business in China. Ms. Mensch
put together strategic alliances for this division with international
content owners such as the Financial Times, the BBC, Bertelsmann,
China Educational Television, China Central Television (CCTV),
Shanghai Television, Good Parent TV, the NFL, the NBA, and many
other independent content owners in various media. Ms. Mensch
travels frequently to Asia, where she continues to develop working
relationships with the Chinese media. Ms. Mensch specializes in
international intellectual property management.
Linda's clients include television broadcast and production companies, theatrical touring companies, record companies, commercial music production companies, individual producers, publishers, managers, technology companies, and entertainment-oriented software companies, authors, as well as performing artists such as the Ohio Players, Cheap Trick, Ministry, Survivor, Kurt Elling, Patricia Barber, Sugar Blue, and Da Brat. Ms. Mensch is the past President of the Chicago Chapter of the Recording Academy and has served as a National Trustee and National Vice-President of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. She serves
as the president of Lawyers for the Creative Arts and served as a
member and officer of the National Jazz Museum in Chicago. Ms. Mensch has taught Entertainment Law at Columbia College, in Chicago, at Southern Cross University Law School in Australia, and has lectured internationally on both Entertainment Law and International Intellectual Property Management at various
seminars and law schools.
A graduate of Kirkland College (now part of Hamilton College), in Clinton, N.Y., Ms. Mensch studied literature in Heidelberg, at the University of Salzburg, and at Cauis, College, Cambridge before entering law school. Ms. Mensch is a graduate of New York University School of Law. Ms. Mensch helped develop the practice and standards for Entertainment Law in Illinois, and has practiced entertainment law in New York and Illinois since 1977.
